Lambeg Ladies Golf Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Rhonda Brown as our new Ladies Club Captain.

To help you get to know Rhonda a little better, we asked her a few fun questions…

1. How long have you been playing golf for?

I started playing golf along side my dad and brother as a teenager, using their clubs, mostly at public courses during the summer months.  Throughout my university years and busy career I had little time to commit to any sporting activities. During the 1990s I decided to take golf lessons at Aberdelghy Golf Course on weekends, after seeing an advertisement in the local Star Newspaper. Equipped with a new half-set of golf clubs, and a determined mindset, I was ready to improve my golf game. 

Fast forward to 2012, It wasn’t until then that I found more time to play golf regularly. It was during that period that my passion for golf blossomed, eventually leading me to consider membership at a club. I delayed the decision until retiring, before finally deciding to join Lambeg Ladies Golf Club at Aberdelghy Golf Course.

2. What are you most looking forward to in your year as Lady Captain?

I am excited to serve our members well, and dedicated to creating memorable golfing experiences for them. I am committed to supporting our efforts in expanding the membership of our ladies golf club.  I will encourage members to participate in competitions such as our annual Round Robin with other local clubs and the LCCC Lord Mayors Charity Golf Fundraiser at Castlereagh Hills Golf Club.

However, our Lambeg Ladies Golf Club is not just about golf – we also enjoy socialising!  Like previous captains, I plan to make Lady Captain’s Day a memorable golfing event with a fun party atmosphere for everyone to enjoy, including treats, refreshments and an evening meal followed by a special prize-giving ceremony. 

3.What’s one thing you always have in your golf bag (besides clubs!)?

My go-to golf bag item –  A  5-in-1 Tool With Divot Pitch Repair, Ball Marker, Brush, Strokes Counter and Clip.

4. If you could pick one celebrity to play a round with, who would it be?

Without a doubt, Leona Maguire – A true STAR and first Irish golfer to win on the LPGA. An incredible achievement by an incredible talent.

5. What is your favourite thing about Lambeg Golf Club?
